Co-Director / Teacher Group A

Katie has been working in the early childhood sector since 2008 where she started as a trainee studying certificate 3 in Children’s services. She then went on to study her Diploma in Children’s services working with every age group from Birth to 12 years.

In 2015 Katie completed a Bachelor of learning management- Early childhood. She worked as the Kindy Teacher at Birralee Kindergarten in Gladstone before moving to Brisbane.

In Brisbane Katie taught Prep at Springfield Central state school for 2 years before moving back to CQ. When she returned in 2019, she secured her position back at Birralee Kindergarten as Co Director and Teacher.

In 2023 Katie joined the Tannum Sands Kindy team and she is passionate about our Beach Kindy program and utilising our natural environments in children’s play/learning.

Co-Director / Teacher Group B

Melissa completed a Diploma of Teaching Early Childhood Education at the end of 1989. After graduating Melissa was employed as Director of Jaycee Kindergarten in Portland Victoria for three years.

Melissa then moved to Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria. During the 10 years Melissa spent on Groote Eylandt, she worked for Alyangula Area School as the Preschool Teacher and also taught Transition, Composite Transition and Grade One class.

In 2004 Melissa was appointed to the position of Co-Director/Teacher of Group B for the Kindergarten.

Teacher Assistant Group A

Megan completed a Diploma of early Childhood Education and Care in 2021.
During 2021, while completing this diploma, Megan was already volunteering at Tannum Sands Kindergarten in a committee position. This same year she began working in an official manner as a relief educator for both group A and B.

Megan has volunteered and worked with children since moving to Queensland in 2014. She has previously run a local playgroup from 2014 to 2017. Since completing her diploma Megan has worked in after school and vacation care as well as in a creche at one of our local gyms.

Towards the end of 2022 Megan took on an inclusion support educator role at Tannum Sands Kindergarten which she continued throughout 2023.

Megan loves working with children of all ages especially kindy age children and younger. In 2024 Megan will join the Group A as a permanent member of the teaching team

Administration Officer

Melissa started with the Kindergarten in 2022.

Melissa has 20 years in Administration and Accounting, along with her efficiency, professionalism and love for the Kindergarten makes her everyone’s go-to person for any questions they have. Melissa is an integral part of the Kindergarten’s team.
